The Office of Sustainability Initiatives and Procurement Services at Emory are excited to announce the next step toward the Emory Sustainability Vision goal: “All university events will be zero municipal landfill waste by 2020.” Emory Catering, the choice vendor for event and meeting catering on campus, already complies with Sustainable Event Zero Landfill Waste certification requirements by supplying and utilizing catering materials that can all be composted or recycled in Emory’s waste streams.
Now, America to Go is working with its caterers to provide Emory event planners with more catering options that comply with Emory’s Zero Landfill Waste event guidelines. In this new effort, event planners are able to log into the America to Go punch out using the Emory Express system, and see which of the offered catering vendors are labeled “Zero Landfill Waste.” The icon placed next to compliant caterers ensures that event planners know which caterers provide service where all dishes, cups and tableware are compostable, all materials in boxed lunches can be composted or recycled, and NO Styrofoam is brought to campus.
The Office of Sustainability Initiatives believes the efforts of all events, organizations, and campus planners can contribute Emory’s Sustainability Vision. By encouraging Zero Landfill Waste catering, Emory and America to Go are partnering to make progress toward a University without a landfill waste stream. When organizing your next event, please use Emory Catering or Zero Landfill Waste designated America to Go caterers.
