Virtual Earth Month – Reclaim Spaces

April 27, 2020

#Reclaim: If you’ve had a chance to spend time outside lately, you may have noticed that everything seems quieter. Or that maybe the birds are louder. As the usual hum of public life has recently turned faint, nature has responded in remarkable ways. Wildlife is being noticed in unusual places. Scientists are observing less seismic noise. Some of the world’s most polluted cities are seeing dramatic improvements in air quality. We’re beginning to see how humans affect the natural world and at the same time, how the natural world reacts in our absence.

Check out these reads on how nature is (re)claiming beaches, cities, and more:

1. Deserted Thai beaches lure rare turtles to build most nests in 20 years: http://ow.ly/N3t850zpL2F

2. With humans shut in by the coronavirus, nature sees an opportunity: http://ow.ly/aUAH50zpL2I

3. LA’s skies are smog-free and peacocks are roaming the streets of Dubai. Photos show how nature has returned to cities shut down by the coronavirus pandemic: http://ow.ly/dJG650zpL2E
