Congratulations to Candler School of Theology/Rita Ann Rollins & Pitts Library, the winner of the University-wide November Recycling Competition! They diverted 37,388.24 lbs more during the month of November 2019 than they did in November 2018! See the list of the top-10 performing buildings below.
This annual competition, held by Emory Recycles and the Office of Sustainability, encouraged faculty, staff and students to be intentional about recycling. Residence halls, classroom buildings and offices competed to see which buildings on campus could divert the most waste from landfills into recycling. Each year, the winning building receives a $3,000 prize to put toward a sustainable project, with 2018’s winners, Few and Evans Residence Hall, voting to purchase pizza box recycling bins to help alleviate the issue of filling up the standard residence hall recycling bins with large pizza boxes. In 2019, the competition was based on the positive change in waste diversion since 2018.
