Sustainable food procurement and providing access to nutritious, seasonal and local food are cornerstones of Emory’s sustainable food initiative. These efforts contribute to the revitalization of healthy, regional food systems and to a healthier campus.
The market serves as a gathering place for the Emory community and offers an opportunity to connect Emory students, faculty, and staff with local Georgia farmers and makers. Cooking demonstrations, contests, musical performances and other activities make the Emory Farmers Market a highlight of campus life.
At the end of each school year, Housing, Campus Services teams, and the Office of Sustainability Initiatives partner to provide donation bins and trucks for all on-campus residence to donate items that can be used, instead of throwing them in dumpsters to be sent to landfill.
