Seminar with Dr. Carla Roncoli – Role of Indigenous Knowledge in Water Resource Management

Please join the Department of Environmental Sciences for the final seminar in the spring 2020 ENVS Seminar Series on Friday, April 17th, at 10:00 a.m. EDT. Professor Carla Roncoli will present “The Role of Indigenous Knowledge in Water Resource Management: A case study from Burkina Faso (West Africa)”
Dr. Roncoli is the Program Director for the Master’s in Development Practice program and a Senior Research Scientist in Emory’s Department of Anthropology.
Dr. Roncoli’s research addresses the human dimension of climate change, with a particular focus on risk perceptions, communication, and management among African rural communities. It emphasizes the need for achieving a good “fit” between scientific information and technological innovations on the one hand and local knowledge, capabilities, and experience on the other hand.
